As of right now (06-01-2025), I am using Cachy OS. I may be hallucinating it, but all of the Kernel Optimisation mumbo-jumbo that it is doing seems to be working.

I am using Hyprland as my DE, with the end-4 dotfiles (I really can not be bothered to write my own). Everything looks good enough, and runs smooth on my potato laptop. All-in-all, the best laptop-based Linux experience that I have ever had. Don’t listen to the naysayers, Arch does not break often if you do not fool around with it too much. The large repository of software on the AUR is really great.

Of course, this is all fine till GNU Hurd Stable drops ( ^^ ).

I highly recommend the Zed Text Editor as a valid alternative to VS Code. It is fast, light on memory, and has very little bloat. If you’re into all the AI Copilot stuff, this is great for you too. It also has no telemetry (that I know of). You’ll see a noticeable speedup if you use Typst or LaTeX on a regular basis.
